Pecan Tassies with Date Paste Instead of Sugar

Ingredients
  

  • Pie crust dough For the crust we recommend using a ready made pie crust from your local grocery store’s refrigerator section.
  • ½ cup 1 stick butter, at room temperature
  • 1 cup date paste
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 2 tablespoon vanilla
  • 1 ½ cup chopped pecans
  • 1 cup chopped dates

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350º
  2. Cream the butter and sugar together for the filling.
  3. Add the egg and vanilla.
  4. Mix in the pecans and dates.
  5. Lay the pie crust dough on parchment paper and use a glass with a circle top that is a little larger than your mini muffin tin pan openings.
  6. Roll the chilled pastry into small balls and add to two lightly greased mini muffin tin.
  7. Press down with your thumb and then press dough so it comes up the sides of the tin.
  8. Alternatively, use a wooden tamper to form the shells.
  9. Fill each unbaked pastry shell with the pecan date mixture.
  10. Bake for 30-40 minutes.
  11. Cool tarts before removing them from the tray.
